Cause Incorrect thinners or catalyst used
Correction Refer to relevant data sheet for correct thinners/catalyst

Cause Incorrect catalyst ratio used
Correction Refer to relevant data sheet or label on the can for correct ratio

Cause Insufficient drying times between coats
Correction Refer to relevant data sheet for correct drying times

Cause Incorrect stain added to the A/C lacquer
Correction Use only solvent stains recommended by Syntema. Contact your local Syntema branch if unsure

A Properly matched spray gun fluid tip, needle and air cap
B Compressor in good working order and drained regularly
C Moisture and oil trap installed in the air line no more than 3 -4 metres from the gun

Orange Peel
Cause Material is too thick to atomise
Correction Thin with the recommended thinners

Cause Solvents are evaporating too fast
Correction Retard lacquer in accordance with Becker-Acroma instructions

Cause Incorrect air/fluid pressure
Correction Set correct pressures for both air and fluid

Cause Incorrect spraying technique
Correction Gun to surface should be 7-8 inches no more or less

The above information assumes the following:-

A Properly matched spray gun fluid tip, needle and air cap
B Compressor in good working order and drained regularly
C Moisture and oil trap installed in the air line no more than 3 -4 metres from the gun

Overspray
Cause Too much air pressure
Correction Use correct pressure for the material being sprayed
